(ECNS) -- As an important family appliances production base in China, South China's Guangdong Province has witnessed a surge in the exports of heating appliances as the northern hemisphere enters winter.
Data from Guangzhou customs indicated that the export of heating appliances hit 1.16 billion yuan ($160 million) in August this year, an increase of 6.5 percent year-on-year.
"Heating equipment, like water heaters, heat pumps, and electric fireplaces are our best sellers, and now we are building new production lines to ensure supply," said Peng Hongfei, manager of international marketing at Vanward, a large heating equipmentproducer in China.
In the first nine months of this year, sales of the company’s heating equipment exceeded 20 million yuan, ($2.77 million), an increase of 102 percent year-on-year, he added.
The European market has been a major growth engine for China's home appliance exports. In September, heating electrical appliances in the European market increased by nearly 300 percent month-on-month, according to data from AliExpress, an international online shopping platform.
Consumers from the Netherlands, France, Germany, and Poland have strong demand for Chinese heaters, foot warmers and more.
Currently, China is the main supplier of air source heat pumps - a common heating technology that sources heat energy from ambient air outdoors for indoor heating - to Europe, taking up about 60 percent of the global market share, according to China Household Electrical Appliances Association.
